They have been preparing it in Ankara for decades

In Turkey, the reason is grown that the islands that Greece possesses today were once Turkish and that Turkey “gave” Greece a big mistake. Aside from the fact that this is a fact recognized only by the Turks as such, we in Greece ought to see this reasoning as the fuel that fuels the climate of war-making. Attempting to occupy half of the Aegean is the next “logical” step.

We have been saying this for years to those who justified all of Ankara’s extreme rhetoric with the doctrine of domestic consumption. There was no question of internal consumption. Turkey has been preparing for decades to occupy the Aegean Sea. He does just that as he did in Cyprus. It equips itself, asks the “enemy” to leave the field, and then invades as far as conditions allow. In the meantime, it is trying to create an international environment that offers a semblance of legitimacy for its piracy. That’s exactly what he did in Cyprus, and that’s what he’s doing in the Aegean.

Turkey established the Aegean Army. Not the Bosphorus or Syria, but the Aegean Sea. Then an international campaign of the so-called gray areas in the Aegean began. Then a discussion began about the revision of international treaties. Now the Greek army is demanding to leave the islands. Well, it doesn’t take much imagination to know what the next step will be!

The bad thing is that the Turkish public opinion of the necessity of going to war has been instilled. So the Turkish political leadership has moved on to the final chapter of the drama related to preparing public opinion. This is not the absurdity of the Sultan. But for the logical conclusion of a policy that began many years ago and whose goal was and still is to diminish Hellenism.

Greece has two lines of defense. The first is what it needs to do and what it does in the field. The armed forces are ready to defend the homeland and at the same time to respond to any strike. The second line of defense has to do with the international factor. After so many decades, the balance seems to be shifting at this level and this fact should not go unattended.

Somehow Turkey must be persuaded to abandon its long-term plans and plans. And on top of all that, throw in the billions rubbish investments that have been made based on these designs. For this to happen, he must be convinced that what he has to lose is more than he can gain.
