the Google It released a new artificial intelligence (AI) model to compete with ChatGPT and it looks very impressive. The model, called Gemini, was developed by Google DeepMind, whose CEO and co-founder, Cypriot-born Demis Hassabis, described it as “the most capable and general model we have ever built.”
Gemini will power Google’s chatbot, called Bard, which was released this year without much fanfare, as its promotional video contained some annoying bugs, as stated in an article in IFL Science.

Artificial Intelligence is capable of more than just answering text questions, it is imbued with skills, as well as knowledge and information on mundane topics. Additionally, Gemini is designed to be “multimedia,” meaning it can process text, audio, images, video, and computer code simultaneously.
For example, if you show him a video where you look like you’re drawing a car, he’ll be able to quickly recognize what you’re drawing and will basically say “yes, that’s a car.” You can then design another car and ask Gemini which of the two cars could theoretically go faster based on its design and aerodynamics.

Google Gemini comes in three versions
It is worth noting that Geminis have been tested for their problem-solving abilities and knowledge in 57 subject areas – including mathematics, physics, history, law, medicine and ethics – and shown to outperform human experts. Google also said Gemini outperformed other “state-of-the-art” AI models, such as ChatGPT-4, in 30 of 32 benchmark tests that evaluate reasoning and image understanding.
Gemini 1.0 is available in three different versions – Ultra, Pro and Nano – to be used depending on the needs of the program and the user. For example, Ultra will be the most powerful, but it will also be unnecessarily powerful for most everyday needs.
Google’s chatbot Bard will begin using the Gemini Pro version as Google plans to integrate variations of the new AI system into other products like Search, Ads, and Chrome in the coming months.

Fears of enabling artificial intelligence
Google’s announcement emphasized that Gemini was created with responsibility and safety in mind. The recent boom in AI technology has many people, including industry leaders and scientists, concerned that we may be opening a Pandora’s box. Hence, by introducing Gemini and its sheer capabilities, Google has attempted to allay some of these concerns.
Characteristically, in a related function, and Google He pointed out the following: “At every stage of development, we study potential risks and work to control and mitigate them. Gemini has the most comprehensive safety ratings of any Google AI model to date, including bias and toxicity. […] “We will continue to work with researchers, governments and civil society groups around the world as we develop Gemini.”
