Twitch Turbo is a monthly subscription that allows users to remove most ads, access additional emojis, and more. In the US, the price will increase from $8.99 to $11.99 per month. Other countries prices can be found in one Support article On the Twitch website, and there we see that, in contrast, in most European countries, the price is set at 11.99 euros. The change in the cost of the monthly subscription is not associated with the addition of new features that will be made in the future.
Users were notified of the price changes in an email sent Thursday. Existing subscribers will reserve their existing rates for an additional three months and will have to subscribe to the new rates. If they do not renew within the next three months, the Turbo subscription will stop renewing on August 31st.
As expected, many subscribers are not satisfied with the price hike. A thread on the r/Twitch subreddit has already been filled in complaints Some users outside the US are seeing significant price increases. Posts of disgruntled users can also be found on Twitter.
The price increase comes shortly after the arrival of a new CEO at Twitch who has made several layoffs amid sweeping layoffs at Amazon, which also owns the service. However, for some users, the price of Turbo has been lowered. In this case, users must cancel their subscription and then re-subscribe to take advantage of the lower price.
