US Elections: Trump-Harris lead based on 78 polls – The picture in the critical states

Kamala Harris may not have officially clinched the Democratic nomination yet, but US election polls are showing her performing well against Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump.

According to them, Trump is slightly ahead of Harris in some key states, while there is a tie in Wisconsin.

The poll released Thursday by Emerson College Polling and The Hill showed Trump leading Harris by five points in Arizona, 49 percent to 44 percent.

By two points in Georgia, 48% to 46%, by one point in Michigan, 46% to 45%, and by two points in Pennsylvania, 48% to 46%. The two are tied at 47% in Wisconsin, as noted above.

In every state except Arizona, the percentages were within the poll’s margin of error, suggesting that Trump and Harris could already be tied in most of the key state contests in the presidential race.

Harris boosts Democrats’ ratings over Biden

Kamala Harris is doing remarkably well against Joe Biden compared to polls released earlier this month for the same states.

The US Vice President leads the President by 5 points in Georgia, 4 points in Arizona and Wisconsin, and 3 points in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

According to the “package” of 78 polls, Trump leads Harris by 48% to 46%. Biden’s corresponding numbers in the previous “package” of polls were 47% and 43%, and Kamala Harris appears to be closing the gap.

“Young voters have turned to Harris.”

Kamala Harris launched her campaign immediately after Joe Biden dropped out and announced her support.

The vice president visited Milwaukee on Tuesday for her first campaign rally since Biden dropped out of the race.

“Harris has regained some Democratic support in the presidential election after falling behind after the June 27 debate,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said in a press release.

“Harris’s numbers now reflect similar levels of support to those Biden received in March,” he noted.

“New voters have turned to Harris: Her support is up 16 points in Arizona, 8 points in Georgia, 5 points in Michigan, 11 points in Pennsylvania and 1 point in Wisconsin from earlier polls this month,” he said.

Democrats rallied around Harris after Biden announced he would drop out of the presidential race and endorse his vice president instead, The Hill estimates.
