Washington calls on North Korea to cancel the next satellite launch

Washington calls on North Korea to cancel the next satellite launch

Called the United States today north korea To cancel the upcoming satellite launch, saying that it violates UN Security Council resolutions.

“We urge North Korea to refrain from any further illegal activity and call on Pyongyang to engage in serious and assertive diplomacy,” a US State Department spokesman said.

The Japan Coast Guard has issued an alert for a possible missile launch of a military reconnaissance satellite between August 24 and 31 for the three risk areas, the Yellow Sea, East China Sea and the maritime area east of Luzon Island in the Philippines.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry warned that Seoul’s response to this illegal provocation by the North will be harsh in the context of the close trilateral cooperation between South Korea, the United States and Japan.

Washington and Seoul suspect that Pyongyang is developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile, which includes technologies similar to those for satellite launches.

South Korean intelligence told parliament last week that North Korea might try again to launch a satellite before the 75th anniversary of the founding of the system on Sept. 9.

On May 31, a missile presented by Pyongyang as a military reconnaissance satellite launch pad fell into the Yellow Sea shortly after launch, alarming South Korea and the Japanese archipelago of Okinawa.
