Which drivers will be able to park for free in Athens?

Finding a parking space on the streets of Athens is a crossword puzzle for those with a strong solver.

Drivers traveling around the capital are waiting… August 15 to enjoy the convenience of parking their cars under their home or work, without having to make trips that sometimes exceed an hour.

For this reason, the Municipality of Athens has implemented a controlled parking system on many streets of the capital, in order to improve the access of passing vehicles to the cities’ central traffic arteries and to make it easier for citizens/visitors to find parking spaces.

SES The City of Athens includes a total of 12 zones (zones) within the municipal boundaries and 4 basic categories of vehicle parking spaces (visitors, permanent residents, private spaces and two-wheelers), with a total capacity of 3,643 spaces.

Some vehicles are exempt from having to pay a fee to cover a parking space, as they are entitled to free parking.

These vehicles are purely electric cars, but they are also hybrid cars that emit up to 50 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

All drivers of these vehicles have to do, to avoid any fine from the municipal police, is print out a free parking sign and place it on the windshield of their car.

The specific badge is obtained through gov.gr and drivers must have at their disposal: Taxisnet access codes and vehicle registration number.
