Rumors have it that the company will be bringing One UI 6.1.1 to its existing flagships as well. If the information is finally confirmed, this would be an unusual move for the Korean company, as it usually skips minor versions of One UI for older devices, and only continues with the updates with the next major version of Android. But now Samsung has confirmed the devices that will get One UI 6.1.1 along with the potential features.
A Samsung moderator on the Korean community forum has detailed which Galaxy devices will receive the update. One UI 6.1.1These are the following:
-

Galaxy S22 Series
-
Galaxy Z Fold 5
-
Galaxy Z Flip 5
-
Galaxy Z Fold 4
-
Galaxy Z Flip 4
-

Essentially, Samsung plans to roll out One UI 6.1.1 before One UI 7 to all flagship Galaxy smartphones and tablets released in the last 2-3 years. The only notable omissions from the list are the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Flip 3, which received the One UI 6.1 update with limited Galaxy AI features in May 2024.
Samsung will likely update these devices and others not listed above directly to One UI 7 based on Android 15, which is expected to be released later this year or in early 2025.
In separate PublishingAnother Samsung Korean community moderator, who is part of the team responsible for Galaxy smartphone cameras, has detailed the various One UI 6.1.1 camera features that will be coming to older Galaxy devices.
The new Auto Zoom and Flex Camcorder features of the Flip 6 will be carried over to the Flip 5, but not the Fold 5 due to form factor differences. More importantly, new Galaxy AI features like Sketch to Image, Live Effect, and Portrait Studio should be available on all Galaxy devices that will receive One UI 6.1.1. These features are still in development, and if Samsung encounters any issues, its plans may change.
The tipster did not provide a detailed timeline for the One UI 6.1.1 rollout to older Samsung models. However, based on Samsung’s past track record, the Galaxy S24 and Fold 5/Flip 5 should receive the update in August 2024.
Rumors also suggest that the Korean company is working on a major camera-focused update for the Galaxy S24 series, and later for other flagship phones, which could roll out next month, incorporating Galaxy AI-related improvements.
