Saints Floros and Lavros
Saints Floros and Lavros were twin brothers and were inseparably united by their ardent faith and love for Christ. They came from Byzantium and were taught Christianity and the art of epigraphy by the saints Proclus (or Patroklos according to Saint Nicodemus) and Maximus, who had suffered martyrdom for Christ.
As it says saint.grAfter the death of their teachers, Floros and Lavros moved to Illyria and chose the city of Ulpiana as their residence. In this city they worked their art, but at the same time they tried to spread the gospel through it
There was also an idolatrous priest named Merendios. His son Athanasios became blind in one eye for which medical science could not find a cure. Then he approached two artisan brothers, who healed the eye of the pagan priest’s son by saying the name of Christ, and as a result they both believed in Christ.
When the governor of Lycon learned of this, he arrested the two brothers, and after cruelly torturing them, threw them into a well, where they gave up their spirits. Thus the two artisan brothers entered the Eternal City, “whose Craftsman and Maker is God” (to the Epistle to the Hebrews, x’ 10). Whose craftsman and architect is this god? Their remains were collected by faithful Christians and taken to Vasilivosa.
