Saint Achilles
Saint Achillios came from Cappadocia and lived during the reign of Constantine the Great (306 – 337 AD). His youthful lust brought him to the Holy Land and then to Rome. There he devoted himself to the pious work of the preacher, preaching the divine word incessantly in towns and villages, in spite of needs, curses, persecutions and sufferings. His excellent and excellent services made him Bishop of Larissa.
From his new position, Achilles was the spiritual leader and teacher, sayer and doer. He preached every day, helped the widows, protected the orphans, relieved the poor, protected the oppressed, he was the watchman and protector of the legacy of the faith and the flock.
As saint.gr writes, Achilleos distinguished himself at the First Ecumenical Council held in 325 AD. At Nicaea, against Arius. Later, Constantine the Great, in appreciation of his virtues, gave him a large monetary donation, and when Achilleos returned to Larissa, he used it to build temples and care for the sick and poor.
When he had a premonition of his death, he summoned all the priests of his diocese and gave him paternal advice on their duties.
