Microsoft has announced the end of support for Windows 10, version 21H2. Select versions of the operating system will no longer receive monthly updates with security improvements, bug fixes, and other necessary changes.
Therefore, those running Windows 10 version 21H2 should update to a newer version immediately to keep their systems protected.
As the name suggests, Windows 10 version 21H2 was released in the second half of 2021 with a small list of changes. Received 18 months of active support for key volume, professional, professional, and workstation SKUs.
Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise multisession editions will continue to receive updates for another year. Microsoft plans to end support for it on June 11, 2024.
Microsoft released Windows 10 Build 21H2 along with the original release of Windows 11. Since then, it was clear that Windows 10 users should not expect any new features or noticeable changes as the company was promoting Windows 11.
Windows 10 is now in Maintenance Mode and only receives monthly cumulative updates with minor changes and security fixes. For some, this makes it the perfect operating system as they don’t have to worry about upcoming new features crashing their system.
Those who are still running Windows 10 version 21H2 should prepare for the mandatory upgrade.
Microsoft will upgrade your computer to version 22H2. Windows 11 remains optional, but only for computers with the appropriate hardware.
