This news comes after a series of reviews showed that the recently released Ryzen 9000 series processors failed to live up to the high performance expectations set by the company.
According to AMD, the new version of Windows, codenamed 24H2, will include improved “branch prediction code” specifically designed for its processors. The company expects impressive performance improvements, with the 9950X expected to see a 13% increase in Far Cry 6 and a 7% increase in Cyberpunk 2077, compared to the current 23H2 version of Windows 11.
The improvements are not limited to the new generation Zen 5.H. AMD confirmed Previous generations of Zen 4 and Zen 3 will also benefit from the update, albeit to a lesser extent. The company is working closely with Microsoft to quickly roll out this optional update to all Windows 11 users.
The announcement comes at a critical time for AMD. Recent reviews have shown that the performance gap between the new flagship Ryzen 9 9950X and its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 7950X, was marginal. In gaming tests, the gap was just 1%, while in productivity applications, the “gap” reached just 3%.
Despite disappointing initial performance, AMD insists that the Ryzen 9000 series offers top-tier performance for content creation, productivity, and AI applications. The company appears to be targeting a broader range of users, beyond gaming enthusiasts.
As of today, the next Windows 11 update is expected to be released next month. Industry experts and users are eagerly awaiting whether AMD’s claims of significant performance improvements will be confirmed in practice. The success of this update could significantly change the image of AMD’s new processor line and influence future trends in the high-performance processor market.
