The Marinaki group may have built against the government, the microcosm of politics discussing Nikos Androulakis' impeachment motion and Stefanos Kassalakis' 24-hour ultimatum, but citizens across Greece celebrated yesterday. Watching parades or traveling to different parts of the country. It is noteworthy that for the second three days in a row all the hostels were full.
The majority of citizens work, produce, toil and, when given the opportunity, want to escape from everyday life. He does it because he can afford it. Obviously, there are struggling families, but the spectacular drop in unemployment has lifted hundreds of thousands of citizens from the economic and social margins.
Why am I writing this? Because it is known that circles and groups from both sides tried to turn the marches into anti-government events. They tried, but they didn't find students to insult the authorities like in Thessaloniki in 2011, or 40-year-old “schoolgirls” to mock the marchers, or a mob to break them up.
Because in these cases the hand with the match is not enough. There should also be plenty of fuel. It was in 2011. The atmosphere smelled of gunpowder. Angry people at the time believed that the memos had brought about a crisis and took to the streets. Today, lack of economic and social conditions makes it impossible to create a new angry people's movement. Let those who try to destabilize the present government bear this in mind. Governments are elected by the votes of citizens and not by silly headlines.
As of 2019, Greece is back to normal. I don't say normal because the covid period was out of normal on all levels. We entered this period of natural and political stability because the citizens decided. Citizens have abolished the destructive system of simple proportionality, and they decide with their votes what kind of government they want and how powerful the prime minister should be.
So, the three days of political tension did not sway anyone except the political pundits. Also, attempts to make the celebrations anti-government fell on deaf ears as people were unwilling to participate. All I saw was a dignified mother, Mrs. Claudia Lata. Her screams of pain from the sidelines and no political ramblings. In the end, respectively the Minister and Regional Governor, Mr. Babastargio and Mr. Let the Gauretas embrace her.
Yesterday was a bright day and people celebrated.
