It only took four business days for Ef.Syn readers. To mobilize themselves to provide financial support for the establishment of the radio and television studio in our newspaper.

As of Wednesday morning, when the counter exceeded 8.5 thousand euros, more than 300 readers of the newspaper had donated money, some more, others less. I will tell you in detail in the Saturday section on the media page.

The campaign is now complete, and the response has been emotional but also revealing. It shows that people want information from independent media, and it shows that it is not enough for them to just read texts in our newspaper and website, but they also demand more things, audio and video reports.

Of course, many well-wishers came out to link the crowdfunding we did for the studio to the difficult financial circumstances of “Ef.Syn”. They did not hide their joy. They are funny. We’re talking about a newspaper with more than 110 employees and the same number of partners. Of course we have financial difficulties, as do other media, especially print media, which depend on circulation. But, at least, we confront it in a clear way: through our work and with the support of our readers. When we say they are our only employers, we mean it. How many other media outlets can claim the same thing and even prove it?

The amount allocated to the studio was not exorbitant, let’s not get crazy. It’s just that in everything we do, especially in this type of project, we ask for reader participation.

Either financially or in other ways. They give you strength, and tell you to keep going.

However, The Guardian, which regularly crowdfunds its pages, does not know what it is doing and has not studied it properly. Come on baby, who’s the guard now…

We therefore continue to build a radio and television studio within our newspaper headquarters, at Kolokotroni 8, to create television and radio broadcasts of our own production. But also to increase the amount of our audio files.
