The YouTube Premium increase has been announced in several countries, including the US, UK, Canada and Argentina, while at the moment users from our country and other European countries haven’t received any relevant email. However, those who have received the email are being informed that the new pricing policy will be effective from November 21st.
The family-friendly version of YouTube Premium allows up to five people to use features like ad-free videos, the ability to download for playback even when you’re offline, and background video playback.
On Thursday, several Reddit users reported that Canadian users were the first to receive an email from the company about changing their monthly subscription from CAD17.99 to CAD22.99 for the Premium Family plan. But soon, subscribers to the service from the US reported receiving similar emails informing them of the premium price increase from $17.99 per month to $22.99.
UK users have also reported that the YouTube Premium Family plan is now £2 more expensive – from £17.99 to £19.99 per month.
The situation is even worse for YouTubers based in Argentina. The company raises the prices of the individual and family premium packages by a large percentage. A single package will cost 389 AGN ($2.53) per month from 119 APR ($0.78) per month, and family packages will cost 699 APR ($4.55) per month from 179 APR ($1.17) per month The above equates to a significant increase – about 220% and 290%, respectively.
Recently – and after the feedback – YouTube announced Test finish which aims to make a Premium subscription necessary to play a 4K video.
